Appearance aside, is bonded leather less durable than leather?
I am looking to buy a sofa, but in black, if the appearance of Leather will not matter much – no visible grain anyway. Thank you!
Yes, leather is not as durable – it is divided hide backed with vinyl. Vinyl does not breathe like leather is strong and not extensible so that the material tends to wear out, rather than molds to your body, plus the two layers will begin to separate at all stitched areas and crack. The best choice for a budget of less would be a sofa leather bonded to non-seating surfaces (back and sides), but full-grain leather on the seat and back, where the bodies of people he will be contacting.
