Can I “enlarge” a body suit?
I ordered a costume online, but when I got it the top is WAY too small. I can barely get my shoulders in it and there is no way I can zip up the back. Also, it really smooshes my boobs.
Is there any way I fix this?
Or am i stuck having to return the suit?
You should return it if you have time, but if your don’t have time, here is what I would do:
Cut a 2, 3-inch-wide strips of interfacing a little longer than the front of the bodysuit from sleeve cuffs, the whole length of the arm, down the side to the bottom cuff. Iron it onto the inside, right over the seams. Use a pressing cloth so you don’t melt the bodysuit.
Cut right down the center of the interfacing strip. Cut away the seam stitching so you have smooth surfaces to work with.
Now add a stripe of new material, the same material as the bodysuit, in where you have cut, one on each side. Match the colors if you need to.
If it is too short from crotch to shoulders, do the same thing but this time horizontally, around the waist and make sure the grainline of the new material goes the same way as the bodysuit material.
